Well Person Visits

Preconception Visits

A well person visit is an important part of preventive health care for people born with a uterus. During a well person visit, the midwife will assess overall health, discuss any concerns you may have, and provide you with information regarding recommended screenings. These visits can also include tests such as blood pressure and cholesterol measurements, Pap smears and pelvic exams, breast/ chest exams, and screening for sexually transmitted infections. The goal of a well person visit is to help identify any potential health issues before they become more serious and to nurture the overall well-being of the client. Well woman visits are an important part of staying healthy and should be scheduled on a regular basis.

A preconception visit is an important step for couples who are planning to have a baby. It gives them the opportunity to discuss their family history, lifestyle habits, and any health concerns with their midwife. During the visit, the midwife may order blood tests or other screenings to assess the couple's readiness for pregnancy. The midwife will also provide information on healthy lifestyle choices, such as diet and exercise, that can help improve the chances for a healthy pregnancy. The healthcare provider may also talk about genetic testing and other considerations that may be important for couples to consider before getting pregnant.
